Our Story

My name is Tristan Cochran, and I'm the founder and sole employee of Teacy Nail Calls.

Both of my parents are educators. My dad is approaching his 30th year in education, and my mom left her job as a high school science teacher to homeschool my brother and me after we were diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome around the ages of seven and eight. Living with Tourette's has presented its challenges, but it has also shaped who I am and taught me not to let life's difficulties become excuses.

My dad started taking me deer hunting with close family friends when I was around nine years old, and that's where my love for hunting began. Those same friends have continued to let us hunt with them year after year, and we've made a lot of great memories along the way. Some of my favorites are the times spent sitting around their living room talking about hunting and the day they helped me shoot my first turkey.

One of my favorite parts of turkey hunting is hearing multiple gobblers answering one another across the woods. Few sounds get me as excited as a distant gobble. That's a big part of what led me to start making turkey calls. I don't get to hunt as often as I'd like, but making calls gives me a way to stay connected to something I love while helping other hunters enjoy it, too. Being able to play a small part in someone else's hunting experience is one of the most rewarding parts of running Teacy Nail Calls.
